Hydro Speed Governor

With our partnering with Reivax, we are proud to offer the state-of-art hydroelectric turbine speed governor system for all type applications.

Reivax Speed Governor - RVX Power

The RVX Power offers state-of-art equipment for both new and retrofit hydro, power plants.

The RVX Power is also compatible with all major turbine OEMs and can be used on: Francis turbine, Kaplan turbine, Pelton turbine, bulb turbine and customized projects for special turbines.

The RVX Power can be supplied with a new hydraulic power unit, operating on high or low pressure, or the digital speed governor can be supplied to operate with the existing hydraulic system. The hardware and software of the system can be customized to meet specific functionality.

Reivax powerful processor unit and open software architecture used in the RVX Power can also be scaled up to include more functionality, such as, excitation control and a complete automation package for control / protection of the generator unit.

Experience of Reivax

Reivax has been supplying digital control systems to the power generation
industry since 1991 and has currently has more than 1,100 systems in operation.

Proven and Complied to the particular International standards

  • IEEE Std 125 IEEE Recommended Practice for Preparation of Equipment Specifications for Speed-Governing of Hydraulic Turbines Intended to Drive Electric Generators
  • IEEE Std 1207 IEEE Guide for the Application of Turbine Governing Systems for Hydroelectric Generating Units
  • IEEE Std 1020 Guide for Control of Hydroelectric Power Plants
  • IEC: 60308 International Code for Testing of Speed Governing System for Hydraulic Turbines.
  • IEC 61362 Guide to Specification of Hydraulic Turbine Control Systems

RVX Hardware

The basic system has the following architecture:

  • Digital controller (CPX) with an Automatic and a Manual channel;
  • Fast I/O interface (MultiCan)
  • Pilot valve electro-hydraulic interface manifold and electronic speed and servomotor position sensors;
  • Distributing Valve integrated with Pilot manifold
  • Mechanical overspeed protection switch
  • A user friendly graphical HMI touch screen (PAN);

Reliable and availability

The RVX Power offers the most redundancy options of all systems on the
market today. The reliable basic system can be combined with the following
redundancy options for additional reliability and availability:

  • Redundant digital controller (CPX) each with an Automatic and a Manual channel. System performance is monitored by a built-in watchdog in each CPX. Transfer to redundant CPX is bumpless;
  • Redundant fast I/O interface (MultiCan) including redundant control terminal blocks and wiring from incoming customer termination. The I/O interface can be expanded to increase the number of I/O points;
  • On-line maintenance can be performed on controls while the redundant system is in operation.

RVX Control & Protection Features:

  • Automatic start / stop control;
  • Manual start / stop control;
  • Automatic MW control;
  • Automatic level control;
  • Automatic flow control;
  • Manual control;
  • Bumpless transfer between control modes;
  • Automatic synchronizing;
  • Local/Remote control selection;
  • Servomotor position feedback;
  • Distributing valve position (LVDT) feedback;
  • Back-up speed sensing;
  • Unit Speed / Frequency Control with: Variable Droop; Dual Speed/ Load Dynamics; On-Line / Off-Line Gains;
  • Soft start/stop function;
  • Reverse power prevention;
  • Automatic unit loading to set point;
  • Limiters (opening, power etc.);
  • Supervision of measuring frequency, power, servomotor position, valve position and communication.

**Other functionalities can be added upon request.**

Software & Service Tools:

  • Operation;
  • Sequence Of Events (SOE);
  • Data logging;
  • Trending;
  • Meetering;
  • Simulator;
  • Parameter settings for control and limiter functions.

Sequence of events (SOE)
The Sequence of event function allows the user to record events with a 1ms sampling rate. The register holds 3,000 events. As new events are being added, the oldest ones will be overwritten.
The internal clock of the MultiCan provides the time stamp. The clock can be synchronized by satellite.

Datalogging
The function can record 20 users defined signals based on a user selectable trigger signal. Recording window is selectable and could be both pre- and post- trigger. The
information is saved and can later be viewed in either graphic or table format.

Simulator
The simulator software allows the user to verify any changes done to the system prior to downloading the parameters to the machine.

On-line parameter viewing
The software allows the user to view values of each input and output of a function block in order to validate logic changes in the software.
